Story

The story

When Joseph gives up his starting spot on the esports team to Charles Tingey, the man Zara Moody always loved, she rewards his obedience by moving their wedding up. But at the ceremony, Charles cuts himself in a jealous stunt, and Zara begs Joseph to step aside. He quietly surrenders the groom's place, watching the invitations be reprinted with Charles's name. This is the ninety-seventh time she has hurt him.

Years ago, Zara saved his grandmother's life, and Joseph promised to repay her with ninety-nine favors, no questions asked. Now Charles, who once faked his own death, has returned, and Zara asks Joseph to serve as best man. Humiliated and injured when Charles shoves him into the wedding cake, Joseph keeps counting.

Only two promises remain before the debt is settled and he can walk away for good.
