Story

The story

A travel vlogger has spent three years documenting her life, sustained by two people who spoiled her: her boyfriend Ethan and her best friend Ava. The two compete endlessly for her attention, a rivalry that has always exhausted her. Then a flight mishap brings her home early, and she walks in on Ethan and Ava locked in a desperate kiss, their whispered words revealing that she is merely the obstacle in their love story.

Already living under the shadow of a terminal illness, she tells no one what she saw. She hides her drenched clothes and her shaking hands, lets Ethan fuss over her, and quietly begins assembling a final highlight reel of her life, addressed to the two people she once loved most.

As a fever drags her under and Ava and Ethan hover at her bedside, the question lingers: how much longer can she carry this secret alone?

Opening excerpt

My number one fan was my boyfriend, Ethan. My number two was my best friend, Ava.

They were constantly trying to one-up each other in my live streams, showering me with gifts in a bitter rivalry to be number one in my heart. It was a constant headache.

But when a flight mishap sent me home earlier than expected, I walked in on these two, who were supposed to be like oil and water, locked in a deep, desperate kiss.
