Story
The story
At Connor's birthday party, Wayne, the scholarship student Connor has sponsored for eight years, crashes the celebration with a pregnancy test and a demand: divorce Audrey, because Wayne claims she is carrying his child. The guests are stunned, for Connor's ex-wife Audrey died three years ago in an avalanche.
Wayne, now dressed in tailored suits and flashing expensive jewelry, insists Audrey is alive, that she taught him to ski, and that she plans to buy him a mansion once their son is born. He accuses Connor of using Audrey's money for charity and keeping a mistress, threatening to expose a cheating scandal if Connor refuses to divorce. Connor, certain Wayne is either mistaken or unwell, offers to prove the truth by taking him to Audrey's grave.
At the cemetery, Wayne laughs off the tombstone as a fake, even when Anna shines a light on the photograph. Friends confirm the avalanche was real news. As doubt finally flickers in Wayne's eyes, Connor asks whether the Audrey he knows likes to ski. Wayne nods, saying she taught him.
