Story

The story

Her biological parents drag her to court to claim her heart for their adopted daughter, Suzy Jones. A judge uses memory-extraction technology, and a jury of one hundred decides the verdict: if her parents win, her organs are theirs, and she is euthanized on the spot. They are certain she will not dare appear.

She steps onto the platform and lets the machine play her memories. The first charge accuses her of neglecting her bedridden father and refusing to support her family, and the audience's comments turn brutal. Then the screen shows the truth of her childhood after Suzy came to live with them, and the courtroom falls silent.

Her mother lowers her head in guilt as the verdict appears. The trial has only begun.

Opening excerpt

My parents take me to court to get my heart and save my adoptive sister.

The judge uses advanced technology to extract our memories. A jury of 100 people decides the verdict. If my parents win the case, my organs will go to them.

They think I won't dare to show up for the trial because they think I'm evil.
