Story
The story
Framed by her boyfriend's childhood sweetheart, Wendy spends five years in prison while Lucas White moves the other woman into her parents' house and builds a life on everything she worked for. Released at last, she walks through the rain with nothing but a small bag of clothes, until Lucas pulls up beside her and offers her a ride.
He has rented her an apartment near his company and kept her parents' house for Olivia Jefferson, telling Wendy to forget the past and behave. She says nothing, her nails biting into her palms, certain she will take back all they stole.
Seven years ago she met Lucas at a college club event, and her roommate Olivia played matchmaker, then slowly turned every date and every argument into a contest Wendy could not win.

The heavy prison gate slammed shut behind me with a loud thud. I shuddered at the sound before slowly returning to my senses from the haze of confusion.
The sky was thick with dark clouds, and the road was empty. Although my surroundings seemed desolate, it was still better than the day I was imprisoned. I greedily inhaled the heavy, damp air, savoring the taste of freedom I hadn't experienced in years.
Clutching the small cloth bag filled with a few of my clothes, I began walking toward the city…
