Story

The story

In Sicelia, a young woman named Elena Deluca is forced by her adoptive family to marry Wade Romano, the disfigured Don of a powerful mafia clan, after her sister Rosa schemes to escape the engagement. Betrayed by her parents and her childhood sweetheart Marco Conti, Elena turns the tables, demanding fifty million dollars and threatening to expose the family's crimes to the Commission.

At the Romano estate, Elena meets Wade, whose scarred face hides a ruthless nature. When he notices an old burn scar shaped like a butterfly on her wrist, he recognizes her as the girl who once saved him from a fire years ago in Milanex City.

Wade gives Elena a black and gold card of highest authority, promising to make the Deluca family pay for their betrayal, and she is left wondering how much he truly knows about her.

Opening excerpt

Rumors had circulated that the newly appointed Don of the Romano family, one of the most powerful mafia clans, had been badly disfigured in a fire. His temper had grown brutal, and three fiancées had already been driven to terror.

When the news reached the Deluca family estate, my so-called sister had collapsed in tears and begged me to take her place and honor the engagement.

I had watched her act in silence before kicking her to the floor.
