Aran works part-time jobs and delivers food to save money, because his girlfriend Wren says she is a million in debt. Every time he saves two thousand, he gives it to her to pay the debt down, leaving only a little for food and rent. One New Year's Eve, short on ticket money, he stumbles into a livestream where a wealthy young man named Matt gives away cash and mocks the poor boyfriend of the woman keeping him.

As Matt describes the woman's excuses, the tear mole under his eye, and the mark on her collarbone, Aran recognizes details that match Wren. Wren comes home late claiming she was washing dishes at a barbecue place, then leaves again when Matt sends a message. A photo shows a woman in the nightdress Aran bought, beside a shirt he sewed for Wren.

Aran is left in their rented room, holding the truth of who Wren really is and what their life together has been.
