Story

The story

In the Starry Pack, Luna Kya has spent three years beside Alpha Owen, the mate who proposes to her at every new destination and names cruise ships after her. Yet the vows he recites are hollow: Owen cheats on her with Lina, a nurse at the pack hospital, and hides the evidence behind closed links and scrubbed scents. Kya has seen the stray hairs, the hickeys, the scratch on his hip.

So she makes a quiet bargain with a witch, trading her wedding ring and Owen's blood for a spell to sever the mate bond during the Moon Goddess Festival. The breaking will be agonizing, and once it is done she will no longer be Luna, perhaps becoming a rogue. She prepares a locked gift box for Owen, promising him the key on the festival day, and tells him nothing.

When the bond is cut, Kya takes a new identity and drives away from the Starry Pack, certain Owen will never find her. A month later, the pack is asking where Luna Kya went.

Opening excerpt

"Are you sure you want to do this? If you go through it, you’ll no longer be Luna and might become a rogue."

"I'm sure."

I removed our wedding ring, which he slipped into my fingers three years back on the desk as payment.

"Alright, when your werewolf Valentine’s Day arrives, I’ll help you break the mate bond with Alpha Owen."
