Story
The story
Annelise watches her husband Vincent step off a cliff, his sabotaged parachute failing to open. As she screams and calls the park rangers, a familiar voice answers — Lily, who refuses to send help, insisting a fallen kitten matters more. Annelise records every word, her grief a performance for the comments only she can see.
She finds Vincent alive at the base of the mountain, broken and bleeding. When she calls the rangers again, Lily instructs her to perform CPR. Annelise follows the orders, pressing harder and harder as Vincent begs her to stop, until his body finally goes still.
When the ambulance arrives, the paramedics cover him without attempting resuscitation. Then his mother arrives, screaming that Annelise drove him to his death, and Lily appears, watching the ambulance leave with a mask of grief before turning to Annelise with disgust.

But when I checked his parachute pack, my blood ran cold. The chute inside had been sabotaged.
Panic seized me. I opened my mouth to scream, to stop him, but then the comments flooded my vision.
Wait. Am I the toxic shrew?
Just then, a new wave of comments scrolled by.
But I just stared, pretending I hadn't seen a thing.
Warn him? Why on earth would I do that?
