The Traitors Under My Roof

Harper returns from a three-month work trip to find her front door unlocked and her house no longer empty. A young woman is there, bouncing a newborn, wearing a faded sleep shirt, and the entryway is lined with shoes Harper has never seen. The woman says Greg told her the two were already divorced. Harper left on March 15th; the woman moved in during April.

Greg's name lights up her phone with a text about staying late at the office. When he finally bursts through the door, he looks not at Harper but at the other woman, shooting her a desperate, silent look before softly closing the door so the neighbors won't hear. Harper walks out with her suitcase and checks into a cheap motel across the street.

There, unpacking gifts she bought him, she scrolls back through his posts and finds the timeline of a marriage she thought was still going strong.
