Worn by Love and Hate

Seven years ago, Janella's mafia husband, Sergio Wexler, had her committed to a psychiatric ward. On the day she was released, she changed her name, cut her hair short, and vanished. Now she returns to the grave of her brother, Luca Lorusso, and finds Sergio waiting there, holding a bouquet that falls to the ground. He tells her he has searched for her for seven years, ever since the fire at the ward, and swears he had no choice but to lock her up.

Janella knows better. She believes Sergio killed Luca to become the Don, slept with Luca's woman, and locked her in a dark, windowless ward. When he offers seven pieces of jewelry engraved with her name and asks her to lunch, she refuses. Then Elena Lazzari calls him, cooing about their seventh anniversary, and Janella's chest tightens.

She came back only to tell Luca she is getting married, a truth she will not share with Sergio. She is no longer his wife, and he does not deserve to know her life.
