Story
The story
On a graduation trip, Landon is left behind when his fiancée Willow slips away. Searching the unfamiliar city, he finds her in a warmly lit pub, telling her senior Noah that she deliberately ditched him and finds his clinginess annoying. Devastated, he returns to the beach, screaming her name until his throat bleeds, then heads for the airport.
At the gate, Willow calls without apology. He hangs up and types: Wedding cancelled. Her fury fades into softer pleas, but the silence between them hardens. When he discovers he grabbed her passport by mistake, he returns to the hotel and finds Willow drunk, leaning on Noah. Her unlocked phone reveals a group chat mocking him and hinting that Noah is newly single.
As Willow panics over Noah's disappearance and demands Landon's help, he refuses, and the trip meant to celebrate their coming marriage collapses into a test of how much love he is willing to keep giving.
Opening excerpt
For six hours, I scoured the unfamiliar city like a madman, hunting for any trace of her. It wasn’t until I passed a cozy, warmly lit pub on a street corner that a voice drifting out froze me solid.
“I never planned on bringing him anyway, I deliberately ditched him.”
Willow’s drunken complaint pierced my ears. “Landon is just too clingy, it’s honestly annoying.”
