Love Signed Away the One Hundredth Time

When the Moore family goes bankrupt, Michele is drugged and delivered to the bed of her childhood sweetheart, Craig Kennedy. He honors the engagement with a grand wedding, yet from their wedding night he brings other women home and forces her to sign divorce agreements, humiliating her for three years while she pleads to keep their marriage.

When the Moore Group needs ten million to survive, Craig's secretary Lucia Langston blocks Michele's calls for help. After twenty-four hours, the family legacy collapses and her parents take their own lives. Craig arrives with Lucia and throws the signed divorce agreement at her again, demanding she beg. Instead, Michele signs it calmly and walks out barefoot, leaving her wedding ring on the floor.

Penniless and free, she sits sketching in a park, her only money a ten-dollar bill from a child, while Craig is left raging and insisting she betrayed him first.
