The Kindergarten Teacher Who Doesn’t Exist

A mother is alarmed when a parent in her son's kindergarten group chat claims a child tried to jump from a balcony after being told to by someone called Miss Never. The homeroom teacher, Ms. Zinn, insists no such person exists, and the security footage shows no trace of her. Yet her son Justin whispers that Miss Never is an old woman with a cat's face, visible only to children.

As the group chat erupts, other parents report their children speaking of Miss Never and of Bamboo-copters. When the class watches a cartoon, Justin claims Miss Never sat with them. Reviewing the footage, the mother sees only the cartoon the teacher described, yet Justin's drawing shows the cat-faced old woman, and he is caught talking to someone who is not there.

Justin says he promised Miss Never not to tell, and that Alice has already finished her task and will be taken to the moon. The mother must decide how far she will go to learn the truth.
