Story
The story
Aurora has agreed to a political mating contract, choosing control over sentiment. But aboard the Alpha's yacht on Veyla's birthday, she watches her chosen mate, Asher, kiss her childhood best friend while his Beta, Kieran, stands by. When Veyla stages a spilled cake and accuses Aurora of attacking her, Asher orders Aurora to kneel and apologize. She refuses, and he throws her over the railing into the sea. A stranger pulls her from the water and vanishes before she can learn his name.
Back on land, Asher offers no apology, and Veyla flaunts Aurora's robe, her car, and Asher's favor. Aurora packs her belongings, resigns from her job, and burns her old life to the ground. If she means to challenge an Alpha, she will need a stronger throne.
Opening excerpt
“Your father secured a political mating contract for you long ago,” my mother said through the secure line. “Now that your wolf has finally stabilized… do you intend to honor it?”
I gave my answer without hesitation.
“Yes,” I replied coolly. “Tell the council to prepare the bond papers. I want a formal ceremony—no unnecessary romance, no sentimental nonsense. I am not marrying for feelings. I am marrying to take back control.”
