Reset to the Day They Killed Me

Lara Quinn wakes pinned beneath a wrecked car, bleeding, pregnant, and back on the day her husband's childhood sweetheart drove her toward an oncoming truck. She has lived this day before: Maya Crane died in the flames, blamed Lara in a final message, and Mason Sterling pushed Lara into the sea. This time Lara dials for help herself and refuses to wait on Mason's tenderness.

Only one ambulance has reached them. Maya, barely hurt, faints in Mason's arms and asks for the rig. Mason tells Lara to give it up and wait, then threatens to leave her trapped under the car until she agrees. His squad closes in, accusing her of jealousy and of putting on a show.

Lara holds her ground as a mother with priority, remembering the son she lost to that delay. Mason carries Maya away, and the ambulance leaves without her.
