Ethan sends his five-year-old twin daughters to a behavioral modification academy after Victoria, the woman he never got over, complains about them. When their mother Reagan and her sister-in-law Sophie reach the academy, the girls are found bruised and no longer breathing. Ethan, meanwhile, celebrates on social media that Victoria is pregnant with his child.

At the hospital, Reagan learns the academy's administrators have been taken into custody. Sophie vows the Lockwood family will make Ethan answer for what he has done, but Reagan, hollowed by grief, only asks to be let go. Arthur Lockwood, who raised her after her grandfather died, tells her to leave Ethan after the cremation.

Back at the estate, Ethan taunts Reagan, certain she has run to his grandfather to tattle. As he pins her down, she remembers her daughters' last words, asking her not to be angry at their father.
