The $125,000 Mistake

Ethan is treating friends to dinner at Aura, the private club run by his cousin Leo. When he asks for the check to be put on Leo's tab, a manager named Vanessa intervenes, presenting a bill for one hundred and twenty-five thousand dollars filled with absurd charges. She mocks him as a freeloader posing as the owner's relative, and when Ethan calls Leo, Leo only urges him to go easy on her.

Vanessa is not merely an employee; she is Leo's lover, and she publicly humiliates Ethan in the lounge, itemizing the ludicrous fees before the other patrons. Leo stands by, pale and silent, letting her crucify him. Ethan's friends, important partners in his industry, watch his reputation being ground into the dirt.

What Vanessa does not know is that Aura, from its brand concept to its design, is entirely Ethan's creation, and Leo is only the front. Ethan agrees to pay, then summons his assistant to bring three million dollars in cash, determined to settle the matter on his own terms.
