Down Five Million, Heaven Sent Me Back

After his old house is demolished, Sebastian receives a settlement of almost five million dollars. The next morning, his longtime friend Lawrence Gellar invites him to a game of poker. Overnight, Sebastian loses everything and signs an IOU claiming he still owes more than a million. His father, already ill, delivers the money meant for his own treatment, relapses from exhaustion, and dies. Lawrence then vandalizes Sebastian's home and disrupts his workplace until Sebastian takes his own life.

When Sebastian opens his eyes again, Lawrence sits before him, urging him to keep playing. He has been reborn at the table, before the trap closes. This time, Sebastian watches the dice cup and the small signals Lawrence and Peter Warner exchange, and he raises the stakes himself, determined to expose how the game is rigged and to avoid the ruin that once destroyed his family.

But the IOUs, the accomplices, and his father's failing health still hang over him, and every round he stays in brings the same danger closer.
