Story

The story

Maya Beckham returns to Elminas after four years abroad, expecting that Oscar Francis's old feelings have faded. Instead, he proposes, and everyone insists she is the love of his life. She finally says yes—until she learns he is secretly marrying her half-sister, Diana Beckham. When Maya confronts him, Oscar explains that Diana is terminally ill and that this wedding is only her last wish. He asks Maya to be the bigger person and attend the ceremony.

What Oscar does not know is that Maya left years ago because she had inherited her mother's congenital heart condition, and Diana had persuaded her that staying would only burden him. Now Diana clings to Oscar, and he shields her, treating Maya as the one making a scene. Maya agrees to attend the wedding, planning to return overseas afterward and never see Oscar again.

At the venue, familiar friends urge her not to take the ceremony to heart, but the sight of Oscar beside Diana leaves Maya facing the wreckage of a love she never stopped carrying.
