One Second to Justice

When his daughter is rushed into hospital after a car accident, bleeding heavily and in need of emergency surgery, a father is stopped at the consent form. A head nurse, Alicia Grant, demands proof that he is the girl's father, refuses his documents, and locks them in a filing cabinet. The intern Benjamin Winfrey finds old records naming him as guardian, but she dismisses them and calls security, accusing him of child trafficking.

The director, Edward Johnson, arrives and hides behind a new risk assessment system, threatening to treat the father's protests as medical harassment. As the anesthesia window closes, the father records the refusal on his phone and then stops insisting on the operation, asking instead for a formal written refusal of treatment.
