Story
The story
Liam Hayes and his brother Dominic married twin sisters. When Dominic's wife Isabelle dies in an accident, her mother Mrs. Carter begs Liam to let his wife Audrey bear a child for Dominic, and Liam's father Mr. Hayes pressures him too. Liam, always the least favored son, cares only what Audrey thinks.
Audrey refuses, kneeling before her parents and her sister's tombstone, swearing she will never betray Liam. Yet that night Liam hears sounds from Dominic's room and finds Audrey there. Confined to the study by day, she returns upstairs night after night until she is pregnant, while Liam grows gaunt and ignored.
As the family celebrates, Liam quietly prepares a divorce and an overseas transfer, then asks Audrey whether the child is truly his.
