The Slow Bloom

Ethan was the first person who chased away June's bullies and married her, so she trusted him completely. When he brings his secretary Linda home, June believes she has found a new playmate, until she hears him call her a dimwit who will not make a scene or cry. This time June does not laugh with him. She tells him to get out of her room, and when he drags her to the guest room and locks her in the dark, she finally says the word divorce.

The next morning Linda sits in June's seat and uses the small flowered bowl her late mother gave her. Linda claims the house and everything in it now belong to her and her unborn baby, and mocks June's illness. When the bowl shatters, Linda accuses June of attacking her, and Ethan threatens her if anything happens to the child.

In the hospital, June tells her attending physician, Dr. Gu, that she is June, not Mrs. Chen. She reveals she remembers every second and every trace of dust, and begins counting the time since he entered the room.
