Rebirth: Dropping the Bad Boy for the Valedictorian

Avery Davis dies on a freezing pavement while her husband, Hunter Kingston, celebrates his first love's birthday and dismisses her call as an act. She wakes again in her sophomore year at Lincoln High, where Hunter, arrogant and handsome, blocks the school gates and asks her to be his girlfriend. She refuses him coldly, and the girl who chased him for a year begins to change.

She stops leaving his iced coffee, stops waiting with Gatorade at practice, and gives her coffee to her desk partner, Maya. She tells Maya she means to test back into the Honors Program, having once dropped from the AP track to stay in Hunter's class. When Hunter sprains his ankle at the basketball tournament, she claims her pain relief spray expired and walks away.

Sent by her mother to deliver chicken stew to the Kingston mansion, she pours it into a dog bowl instead, then faces Hunter on his crutches as he demands to know why she is ignoring him.
