Story
The story
At freshman orientation, Seraphina wakes to find herself reliving the day Daisy Kensington publicly claims to be the daughter of Chicago real-estate mogul Richard Kensington and art collector Eleanor Kensington. Seraphina alone knows the truth: her own family once rescued Daisy from a poor rural village and funded her education, and Daisy now uses a parasitic system to steal wealth and identities. In her past life, Seraphina exposed Daisy, was branded a gold digger, and watched her family's company collapse and her parents die in a car crash.
This time Seraphina stays silent and accepts the "broke scholarship student" label, refusing to give Daisy the confrontation her system seems to need. She cuts off her allowance, sells her designer wardrobe, and wires her money home. But Daisy looks panicked rather than pleased, and Connor, the boyfriend who lives off Seraphina's money, calls angrily about their joint account.
Seraphina must learn how Daisy's system works before it can ruin her family again, while hiding her true identity from everyone around her.
