My younger brother's exam scores were poor, but Dad promised a spot at Sunshine University. He was shocked to be admitted.

Stella works in the local education department, so she knows how college admissions really function. When her father insists that his "connection" at Sunshine University can secure a place for her younger brother Gavin despite his poor grades, Stella warns him that such promises are scams. Her honesty costs her: he slaps her, confiscates her phone and wallet, and throws her out into a thunderstorm. Gavin ends up at a second-tier university abroad, and years of resentment follow. Then Gavin poisons her juice with pesticide, and their father, watching her die, dismembers her to protect his son.

Stella wakes on the day of Gavin's college application deadline, alive again. This time she refuses to argue. At the acceptance party, she smiles and lets their father boast about his "admissions officer" friend who has never asked for a penny. When he later pressures her to fund Gavin's admission, and Gavin demands the latest phone and laptop, she politely declines. If their father wants to trust a stranger with his money, that is his choice, but he will not get a dime from her.
