Broken Frequencies: The Price of Silence

Clara Miller has spent her life being treated as an anomaly. A childhood blow from her alcoholic father ruptured her left eardrum, leaving her dependent on a hearing aid and marked by the thin wire behind her ear. When she and her mother move into a new apartment complex, she meets Liam Parker, the icy golden boy in her grade whose mother insists the two study together. He calls her weird, kicks her chair and tells her not to come back, and Clara buries her fragile pride in books.

Years later, Liam has become the school's untouchable rebel, and Clara has quietly climbed to fifth in her grade, one spot ahead of Tiffany Sterling, the school's it girl. After study hall, Tiffany and two friends corner Clara in an empty classroom, slap her down and spit their venom at the little freak who took her place. What began as a childhood humiliation is closing in around her.
