He Ditched Me in My Game

When a massive game swallows half the population, only the top spender on the leaderboard can pull one person back to reality. Nolan Cluny drops a billion dollars and takes first place — then walks past his wife, Serena, and chooses his childhood friend Bianca Horren instead. He tells Serena to be reasonable, that Bianca's family took him in, that he will come back for her once he recharges. She smiles and says nothing.

Serena is the one who built the game. Every dollar spent inside it lands in her account, and she alone knows every level and every door. As Nolan and Bianca cling to each other and the crowd turns on her, she slips into a blind spot in the cameras and steps through.

Now the leaderboard has reset, and everyone has returned — including Nolan, who still does not recognize the game his wife spent ten years making.
