Story
The story
Katrina has reached seventeen without shifting, and her old pack treats her as a target. Her friend Tina mocks her, the Alpha's daughter has her expelled, and even her parents' standing cannot spare her the humiliation. When her father refuses to abandon her, the family leaves for the Crescent Pack, ruled by Alpha Antony, a man rumored to have slaughtered packs and his own father.
At the snowbound packhouse, Katrina is summoned before Antony, who senses she has no wolf. He pricks her finger, offers his blood, and binds her to the pack with a pledge of loyalty. The bond snaps into place, and Antony promises he will never hurt her, though his reputation makes trust feel dangerous.
Now Katrina must start a new school, attend mandatory pack training, and hide the secret that could doom her family, all while Beta Matthew notices her scent is strangely familiar.
Opening excerpt
As I walked home, Abby hurled a burger at me, smearing cheese across my face. “Phony werewolf,” she sneered, her friends' laughter ringing in my ears as they left me humiliated.
Tina, once my closest friend, now delighted in my disgrace. Graduation was near, but with no wolf in sight, I was nothing but a target. My parents, though respected, were quietly disappointed by my failure to shift. With my eighteenth birthday looming, the future felt bleak.
Deputy Dean Judi stormed into my math class, summoning me to her office while my classmates snickered.
