Story
The story
On the first snowfall, Jason hears a malicious child's voice from inside his wife Sarah's belly, demanding his death so that Ethan can be his father. Sarah, a cardiac surgeon, believes the unborn child over her husband. Midway through his heart bypass, she abandons him on the operating table to bandage Ethan, her intern and his supposed best friend, who has barely scraped a finger. In his previous life, that delay killed him.
Now Jason has been reborn to the moment the surgery is forcibly terminated. This time he called the police in advance. When Sarah orders him to apologize to Ethan or move out, he refuses, and her slap ends their marriage.
Jason means to watch how far this absurd farce will go.
Opening excerpt
On the first snowfall, I heard a voice from inside my wife's belly, dripping with malice.
"Mommy, can you kill him? I want Ethan to be my daddy."
On the operating table, she raised the scalpel and cut open my chest.
Just as the blade was about to slice through my skin, that childish voice rang out again. "Daddy's faking it! The one who's really dying is Ethan!"
She believed it.
