Story

The story

Louisa is a pureblood succubus who needs love every seven days to survive. Her boyfriend Stuart Newlin once courted her with red roses and grand fireworks, but now he locks her away during her heat, ignores her calls, and tells her to find another man. When she finally reaches him, he is at the hospital with Naomi for a prenatal checkup, and he dismisses her as a nuisance caller.

Alone and burning with a heat that could kill her, Louisa calls Joe Dixon in Morland at three in the morning. He roars at her for letting Stuart neglect her, then tells her to wait, because he is coming back. He arrives at her door, holds her, and offers himself as her new master.

Louisa has only ever been with Stuart, and a succubus lives on love. Joe does not love her. Yet the warmth pouring into her feels like a dam breaking, and she cannot tell whether it is salvation or another kind of ruin.

Opening excerpt

I am a pureblood succubus. Every seven days, desire consumes me.

Stuart Newlin always complained that I clung to him too much, that I distracted him from his grand ambitions.

Then, at the peak of my heat, when I needed him most, he blew me off. He chose to go to his female friend's prenatal appointment instead.
