Last Place in My Own Love Story

At her wedding, a game of "one dollar and 50 cents" turns into a quiet reckoning for Shannon. Her fiancé, Ian Chilton, holds her hand only after he is sure Rebecca Cross will not be eliminated, and in later rounds the group debates who gets to stand with Rebecca while Shannon is left out. Knocked to the floor and ignored, she finally sees the pattern: a lifetime of being forgotten by the people she loves.

When she calls off the wedding, the hall erupts. Richard Price mocks her devotion, Anne Chilton calls her immature, and her stepsister, Chelsea Whitmore, urges her not to be so sensitive. Her mother, Alice Linden, apologizes for her, while Helen Pennington wishes for a daughter-in-law like Rebecca. Only Rebecca offers to trade places, and Ian pulls her back protectively.

Shannon takes off her veil and walks into the rain. In the taxi, she finds Rebecca's phone and reads a group chat where the friends laugh about locking her in a closet as a child and leaving her with the bill. With nothing left to hold her, she lets go.
