Across a Lifetime, Never Again

Vivienne Weston and Stanley Hamilton were Southport's favourite hate-watch couple. He destroyed her company and had her parents imprisoned for Elodie, her adopted sister; she drove Elodie to her death. Their forced marriage ended in a car explosion, where Stanley still shoved Vivienne clear of the blast, telling her one lifetime tangled together was enough.

When Vivienne wakes in the past, two betrothal contracts wait before her. She hands Stanley straight back to Elodie and chooses instead the man everyone calls insane, the so-called psycho of Northvale's Clementine family. Her father is furious, Stanley is disbelieving, and Elodie plays the wronged daughter.

But Vivienne has already thrown away the ring and every gift. At her birthday banquet, Elodie arrives on Stanley's arm, and when she falls, Stanley vows to repay Vivienne for everything. Then Vivienne returns to the slums and overhears Elodie ordering her real parents, Brigitte and Donald, out of Southport.
