Story

The story

A woman with a perception disorder is dropped into a horror game, but her condition airbrushes reality: the grosser something is, the prettier it looks. While other players panic, she sees a cozy Airbnb. She treats a blood-drenched fae girl as her own child and calls the vampire Darkblood Count handsome to his face.

Thirty strangers must survive seven days in the castle, climbing thirty floors and facing a monster on each. Clear all thirty floors and reach 9,999 points to earn a second life and a fortune. Fear ratings decide points, and a rating of 100 means death. Shoved up to the 30th floor, home of the final boss, she knocks on the door and demands dinner.

To her, the monsters look like family. To everyone else, she is already dead.

Opening excerpt

I had a perception disorder that messed with how I saw and felt stuff.

So when I got dropped into a horror game, everyone else freaked out trying to survive—

Me? I thought I was in a dating sim.

I raised a young fae like she was my kid, fell for the vampire count, and treated the undead like my in-laws.
