Story

The story

Patrick slides divorce papers across the coffee table and offers five hundred dollars a month for his six-year-old son, Leo. Eliza refuses to sign. She earns forty-five hundred a month and spends two thousand on Leo alone, while Patrick brings home twelve thousand. When she checks their joint account, she finds his balance is only eighteen hundred dollars.

The transaction history reveals the truth: four thousand dollars a month for twelve months to a woman named Savannah T., plus a fifteen-thousand-dollar down payment on a BMW, hotel stays, and expensive dinners. Patrick threatens to cut support to three hundred dollars. Eliza consults a lawyer, Ms. Ellis, who says the evidence is strong and the money can be reclaimed.

But Patrick has taken leave from work for an unexplained trip, and his remaining money is nowhere to be found.
