Story

The story

In Seavora City, Carmoria, Joelle Jewell signs divorce papers at the demand of her husband Nathan Ziegler, who claims the split is only for show to calm his side chick, Sophie. To Nathan and his friends, Joelle is the obedient pushover who cannot speak to strangers, so they bet she will come crawling back.

But Joelle has been quietly texting William Windsor, her check-in buddy from a support group, who once asked her to marry him. She answers yes, and William sends her a checklist for leaving the country, including a month of restaurants to try. As she sells her jewelry and sorts Nathan's assets, Nathan keeps texting from his vacation with Sophie, sure Joelle will obey.

On the morning they collect the decree, Nathan arrives late with a bite mark on his lip. The whole thing is over in five minutes, and Joelle's silence is no longer the one they expect.

Seavora City, Carmoria.

Nathan Ziegler's side chick, Sophie, was melting down—again.

He shoved the divorce papers at me. "Just sign. It's for show. Gotta keep her calm."

I clutched my dress, gave a small nod, and signed. No fuss. No scene.

As I turned to leave, one of his buddies snorted, "Joelle's way too obedient. Bet she'd fetch the divorce decree if you asked."

Nathan lit a cigarette, smirking. "Wanna bet?"

To them, I was still the silent pushover. The girl who'd cry in court but still do what she's told.
