Story

The story

For three years, Jocelyn has been humiliated by her multi-millionaire husband Colin, who ties her living expenses to the likes on cruel Instagram posts. When her grandmother dies short of surgery money and her own pregnancy ends in miscarriage from starvation, Jocelyn resolves to file for divorce. Then Colin is left on life-support after a horrific car crash, his spirit floating near the ceiling, screaming orders only she can hear.

Jocelyn photographs his bandaged face and posts it: one like, and she pulls the plug. Colin insists no one will join what he calls her psychotic break, but she taps the heart beneath her own post and reaches for the ventilator.

As the machines shriek, Colin kneels and begs, promising to send his mother and Melody away, to treat her like a queen, even to grant a fifty-fifty divorce. Jocelyn only smiles: she never wanted a divorce as much as she wants to be a widow.

Opening excerpt

When I begged my multi-millionaire husband for enough money to buy groceries, the girl who had been living in our guest house—his childhood best friend—snapped a hideous photo of me crying. She posted it straight to his Instagram.

"The leech is begging for cash again. One like equals one hundred dollars for her allowance. How many likes do we think she’s worth?"

I lunged for the phone, desperate to delete it.

But my mother-in-law stepped in, grabbing my wrist with a manicured hand. "Leave it," she said with a cold smile. "I think it’s a brilliant idea."
