Story

The story

After a rock thrown to save her drowning uncle is repaid with a $20,000 repair bill, Jane's family refuses to pay. Her uncle rams their car off a bridge; her parents drown, and Jane, dying in the ICU, watches her grandmother hand her surgery money to the man who killed them.

Jane wakes on the riverbank, back at the moment the car sinks, with her uncle unconscious inside. This time she does nothing, and the village's elderly onlookers must decide whether to save him. Then her grandmother, Martha, arrives, cursing the driver without knowing it is her own son.

Jane waits to see what her grandmother calls karma now.

I used a rock to smash a car window, saving my uncle who had driven his car into a river.

But instead of thanking me, he blamed me for accidentally scratching his paint job and demanded my family pay him $20,000 in repair fees.

My grandma chimed in with even more shocking logic: "All he had to do was open the door and swim out! Who told you to go smashing windows? If you ask me, your family owes your uncle a brand-new car!"

My mom snapped back on the spot. "If it weren't for Jane saving him, he'd be fish food by now.
