Real Gold for the Wrong Daughter

Every year, a mother buys her two daughters a piece of gold jewelry, calling it their future bridal trove. Piper has always believed her mother divides everything evenly between her and her sister Savannah, until she overhears a jeweler's clerk describe a mother who buys one daughter solid gold and the other gold-plated silver.

At home, the imbalance grows sharper: an empty fridge for Piper, a feast of Savannah's favorites when Savannah arrives, and a mother who insists she treats her daughters equally.
