Rebirth: My Father Is a Cross-Dressing Master

Emery wants her granddaughter Siena dead. Believing the girl is an ominous child who keeps her daughter-in-law Natalya from conceiving, Emery lures Siena to the river and pushes her in, then performs grief for the villagers. Only Natalya, who found Siena by the river and raised her as her own, refuses to accept the talk of God's punishment.

Emery's cruelty runs deeper: she starves Siena, houses her in a pigsty, and beats her, all while scheming to replace Natalya with a new wife, Scarlett Cork, who might give the Smith family an heir. Siena endures it in silence rather than burden Natalya.

But Siena opens her eyes again, returned to the day at the river. This time she clings to Emery and cries for help before the watching villagers, exposing the bruises on her legs and turning the village's gossip against her grandmother.
