You Always Make Me Wait

For eight years, Rhea has been the shadow behind Lucius Corleone, wiping away his blood, burying his crimes and guarding his rise to become the most feared Don in Palermo. On the night before she is to marry him, he sends a message: Sienna is pregnant, and her child will be the first legitimate heir to the Corleone name. He orders Rhea to leave Sicily for three years and tell everyone she broke their contract first, then demands she publicly declare she ended the engagement herself.

Rhea answers with a single word, then posts her resignation and pulls every covert defense around the Don, leaving his enemies free to circle. Her mother begs her to cling to the seat beside him, and Sienna flaunts her name in the family registry, but Rhea has stopped waiting. The ruby ring and the family crests are locked away, and the bride's seat will stand empty.
