Story
The story
On their fifth wedding anniversary, Sarah's husband Hank hands her divorce papers. His mother is dying, he claims, and her final wish is to see him divorced; the split will be temporary, and they will remarry once she is gone. Sarah agrees. Then her best friend Chloe reveals the truth: Hank has posted wedding photos with his high school sweetheart, Tiffany, and his supposedly dying mother stands beside them, healthier than ever.
Sarah finds Hank's mother was never admitted to any hospital, and Hank himself is on leave from work, preparing for his wedding. At the ceremony, Tiffany tells her that Hank has a five-year-old son with her, proof of an affair that began during Sarah's marriage. Hank admits it. Sarah walks away, determined to keep her house and rebuild her life.
When Hank appears at her home while a real estate agent shows a buyer around, he insists they are only temporarily divorced. Sarah, done with his lies, has no intention of letting him back in.

It was on our fifth wedding anniversary that my husband, Hank, handed me divorce papers.
"My mom's really sick, like, not long for this world. Her dying wish is for me to divorce you," he mumbled, avoiding my eyes.
"I promise it's just a temporary thing. As soon as she's gone, we'll get remarried, I swear," he added, pleadingly.
Looking at Hank's haggard face, I caved and agreed. I was such a fool.
