Story
The story
Three years after his release from prison, Evan Tinkcom fights for cash in an underground club, where his fiancée Victoria Stone drags him out and demands he apologize to Leo. He refuses, haunted by the engagement party where Leo drugged him and Victoria signed the papers that sold him at auction, turning him into Port Stone's joke.
Victoria, the city's richest woman, warns that anyone who lets him fight will be ruined, then gifts the Tinkcom estate to Leo before reporters. When Evan confronts her, she shields Leo and strikes him down, leaving him to reclaim his parents' home and his name alone.
Opening excerpt
Her fist hit my face, eyes burning with rage. “Evan Tinkcom, who let you vanish and become… this?”
I wiped blood from my lip, smiling coldly. “Twenty thousand a punch, Ms. Stone. If that’s not enough, keep going. I still need rent money.”
Her fist shook, but her voice softened. “Come home… just apologize to Leo. He’s forgiven you.”
Her gaze swept over my cuts and bruises. “Look at yourself, covered in blood. Like a stray dog in an alley.”
