Story

The story

Chloe died when a car ran a red light, but a System revived her on one condition: she must leech the luck of Chase Sterling, her mortal enemy since kindergarten, by kissing him. So she ambushes him daily — screaming matches one moment, pinned-against-the-wall kisses the next — until Chase starts to think she belongs in a padded cell.

Then the System shrieks a new alert: kisses are no longer enough. To keep living, she must sleep with him, and soon. But Chase is the man who has haunted her every embarrassment, and the man she has hated for years. She has one day left, a locked door, and a reputation already in ruins.

When life is on the line, dignity takes a backseat — even if it means changing the enemy she cannot stop kissing.

Opening excerpt

To survive, I became a master of emotional whiplash.

One second, we're screaming at each other. The next, I'm pinning him against the wall, locking lips.

One second, I'm sneering and telling him to get lost. The next, I'm pulling him back for a desperate make-out session.

Day after day, more punctual than a 9-to-5 job.

Chase Sterling started looking at me like I belonged in a padded cell.

I had no choice but to lean into the "psycho ex-rival" persona.
