Story

The story

At the Solenne Hotel in Rivera City, Vera and her mother-in-law Georgina settle in for a quiet swim. Their plans vanish when a guest named Rosalie sneers at them, claiming her husband owns the hotel and ordering them out of the water.

Georgina, who built the hotel empire herself, refuses to be cowed. Rosalie calls Dmitry, a swim coach, who shoves Georgina under and holds both women in the pool. As Georgina weakens, Vera realizes the truth: Rosalie's husband is Derrick Hart, Vera's own husband, and a matching rose tattoo confirms the betrayal.

Georgina, who despises cheaters, vows to take back everything she gave Derrick. Rosalie keeps them trapped, waiting for him to arrive.

Opening excerpt

Then this woman—dressed like money and attitude—pinched her nose like we stank. "This is a luxury hotel. How did you people even get in? Sneak in just for the pool? Ugh, I need a test after this."

Buzzkill.

I snapped, "It's a hotel pool. Guests swim. If that's a problem, go build your own."

Her face twisted. "Excuse me? Do you even know who I am? My husband owns this place. We always stay in the top suite. So get out. You reek of broke. You're contaminating the water."
