Chapter 2The Secret Husband’s Downfall

Everyone turned toward the voice. A young man was standing outside the door, one hand casually in his pocket.

His neat, dark hair curled slightly over his temples. His brow bone was sharp, and his face was pale and strikingly handsome.

When our eyes met, I froze for a second.

He smiled at me: "Jo, time to clock out."

The live chat exploded.

[Holy shit! Holy shit! This guy is so hot! Is this Josephine's non-industry boyfriend?!]

[Damn, I thought Josephine was lying! I can't believe her boyfriend actually came to pick her up from work!]

I stood up from my chair and waved to the people around me: "I'll be going now."

From the moment I stood up, I felt a piercing gaze fixed tightly on me, but I didn't look back.

Just as I was about to walk out the door, Liam called out to me coldly: "Josephine!"

I paused, turning to look at him: "Yes, Liam?"

His face was dark, his eyes swirling with dissatisfaction.

Chloe curled her lips into a smile: "Today is my birthday party, and Liam is throwing it for me. Are you not coming, Josephine?"

I glanced at Liam, who remained silent.

"No."

I looked away and walked out: "Happy birthday. I have other plans."
