A Child of Another Story

Erick rushes home early from a business trip to surprise his girlfriend, Sheila Jones, on their fifth anniversary. But when he reaches the door, he hears laughter inside — and Sheila, who had just texted that she was home alone, telling a room full of friends that her first time was with Yoel Lewis. Yoel adds that they even had a child together. Erick steps in and calmly asks where that child is, and the room goes quiet.

Sheila and her friends quickly dismiss it all as a joke, blaming Erick for overreacting. He remembers the signs he ignored: the money he spent on her art school in Francoria, the calls she never returned, the nights she spent with Yoel. He smashes the vase she loves and walks out, then calls his old friend Joshua Lawson, a private investigator, to dig into Yoel and Sheila's years in Francoria.

Sheila never chases after him, and her tearful messages only ask about the broken vase.
