Story
The story
A viral app promises to let users talk to their future selves. Minutes before his SAT, Hector asks it whether he marries his girlfriend, Winona Lane. The reply says yes, but adds that his best friend, Benjamin Scott, spends the wedding night with her. More messages follow: Winona deliberately fails her exam to attend the same college as Benjamin, and she wants Hector to give up his dream school so Benjamin won't feel inferior.
Hector takes the exam honestly instead of sabotaging it. Afterwards, Winona and Benjamin each send excuses for why they cannot meet him that night. Remembering the final message, he walks to the motel behind the school and stops outside a room, where he hears their voices.
He listens as Winona says she needs Hector as her husband but wants Benjamin for the excitement he gives her. Standing in the corridor, Hector wonders whether he ever truly knew her.
