Locked in the Car Because Her Tarot

Brenda has spent over a month preparing to meet her boyfriend Grady Cabrera's parents, only to be stopped at the door. His childhood friend Mallory Pierce has drawn a tarot card declaring Brenda cursed with bad luck, so Grady locks her in the car and takes her gifts inside himself. Through the window, Brenda watches Mallory pose in the family photo and accept the coffee set and massager Brenda chose, while Linda Cabrera praises Mallory's thoughtfulness in the family group chat.

When Brenda lets herself into the Cabrera Estate, the welcome she fought for has already been given away. Mallory wears the slippers Brenda picked out and is presented to Grandma Elena as Grady's future wife, receiving the heirloom tennis bracelet meant for that role. Grady tells Brenda to stay quiet and be reasonable, promising to introduce her later, while relatives assume Mallory and Grady belong together.

As a message about an assignment in Blackridge waits unanswered on her phone, Brenda must decide whether the place beside Grady is still worth claiming.
