Story

The story

At her husband Marcus's funeral, a young boy arrives demanding half the ashes for his mother, Vanessa—the woman Marcus once called his money-hungry first love. Vanessa produces a paternity test and a ten-million-dollar trust fund, then forces Chloe to sign away her marital assets. Bank alerts reveal empty accounts and crushing debts, while an anonymous message claims Marcus is alive, fitting wedding dresses with a third wife.

Following the address, Chloe finds Marcus alive and unmoved. He orders his guards to break her leg and dump her in the city dump. She crawls home through the rain, only to discover her locks changed: Vanessa and her mother-in-law Martha have tricked her into signing away her parents' apartment.

Penniless, injured and betrayed, Chloe clutches a keepsake of Marcus's razor and vows to uncover the truth—and take her vengeance.
